Using diagnostic codes to diagnose your vehicle is a great way to find out if something is wrong before it completely fails. Unfortunately, these codes do not always provide the cause of the problem. For example, a code for cylinder misfire will simply show that the cylinder is misfiring. The DTC system is far from perfect, but it gives vehicle owners a significant advantage when it comes to maintenance and repair. But what is a dtc code?
